The convention this year is a themed tribute to General John A. Lejeune the founder and first commandant of the League. Since WWI General Lejeune remains an inspiration in the History of the Corps including the naming of the largest Marine Corps Base in the world, our own Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Lejeune, legendary among Marines and often referred to as "the greatest of all Leathernecks", served in the Marine Corps for over 40 years. In his honor, the following bear his name:

• Lejeune Hall, United States Naval Academy
• USS Lejeune (AP-74), Navy transport ship, commissioned in 1943
• Lejeune Hall, Virginia Military Institute

August 8 thru August 14, 2010, The Marine Corps League will hold their 87th National Convention in Greensboro, North Carolina. The convention is at the beautiful Koury Convention Center and will host daily events through out the area. The 2010 Convention may prove to be the largest convention in the history of the League.
